Sneaker Sizes Explained: How to Find the Perfect Fit

Choosing the right size in sneakers can be harder than you think – especially when sizes and fit vary from brand to brand. Here's a simple guide to finding the perfect size and avoiding buying the wrong one.

📏 Measure your foot correctly

Use a ruler or tape measure and measure the length from heel to toe – preferably in the evening when your feet are at their largest. Measure both feet and use the longest one as a starting point.

🇪🇺 EU vs. 🇺🇸 US sizes – what should you choose?

Most sneakers are labeled in both EU and US sizes, but they don't always fit the same:

  • Nike: Small in size – often go half a size up

  • Adidas: True to size

  • Yeezy Foam Runner / Pods: Often small – choose one size up

  • Birkenstock : Comes in both narrow and regular fit – pay attention to the width

👣 Know your foot type

  • Wide feet: Choose models with more room (e.g. New Balance or Birkenstock normal fit)

  • Narrow feet: Can use most fits without adjustment

🧼 Try them on correctly – and keep them if they fit correctly

When trying on sneakers, stand up and walk a few steps – there should be about 0.5-1 cm of air in front of your toes. If they feel tight, they may not get better "over time".
